Parallels Desktop for Mac Build 5608 added support for guest Parallels Tools for Linux in the latest Linux distributions (including Ubuntu 8). It also added support for running 3D graphics in Windows virtual machines on Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.3. When I open parallels using the paralles desktop icon though, I don’t need to worry about holding down the command button because parallels starts without automatically launching the virtual machine.
Symptoms

- I installed/upgraded my virtual machine to Windows 10, and now Windows Start Menu doesn't open up when I click on it.
- I cannot open Start Menu in my Windows 10 virtual machine;
- I have issues with Windows 10 overall performance.
Cause
Windows user profile corruption.
Resolution
- In Windows 10 virtual machine create two new local user accounts. Instructions for creating an account are available here.
- Sign in to each account, then sign out of all accounts.
- Sign in to one of the new accounts again.
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the following directory of the other new user account (not the one you're signed into).
NOTE: You may encounter error similar to error shown on picture below:
Please do the following in order to access necessary folder:
- Open Windows Explorer and go to C:Users double click on desired user and click Continue.
- Click on address bar (the one with green bar filling it) and continue to enter address from Step 4.
- Copy the contents of this folder into the equivalent folder of your main user account (which has issues).
- When finished, please sign out of the new account and sign into your main account.
- Check Windows 10 Start Menu, it should work. Delete the new user accounts as they are no longer needed.

Parallels Desktop allows you to switch between Mac and PC applications without rebooting your computer. Stanford University’s Information Technology Services website states that Macs with Core 2 Duo and Xeon processors are specially optimized to host virtual desktops. Being able to open EXE applications in Parallels lets you consolidate your important tasks in one location and work conveniently and efficiently. The virtual desktop integrates seamlessly into OS X so that Windows becomes like any other program in your Mac's dock.
1.Visit parallels.com to download the version of Parallels you’d like to install. (See Resources for link.) Clicking the 'download' link will take you to the checkout page where you can fill out your payment information and download the installation package.
2.Double-click the 'Parallels DMG' file to begin the installation. Read the end-user license agreement, and click “Agree” to install Parallels. Enter your administrator’s password when the installer prompts you.
3.Double-click the 'Parallels icon' in your Applications folder to begin installing Windows. The Parallels website states that 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows 7 will work, as well as earlier 32-bit versions of Windows.
4.Insert your Windows installation disc, and click “New VM” to start a New Virtual Machine wizard. The installer will detect the Windows disc and choose the OS type and version for you. Click “Next” to finalize the choice.
5.Enter a name for your virtual machine and click “Browse” to choose a directory where Windows will be stored on your Mac. Click “Finish” after making your choices.
6.Click “Play” on the right side of the Parallels window to boot the Windows installation disc in your newly created virtual machine. Depending on your version of Windows, use the arrow keys or your mouse to choose the unpartitioned space you’ve allotted for this installation.
7.Enter your product key when prompted, and wait for the installation to finish. After the installation, the virtual machine will reboot Windows. Click “VM” at the top of the screen, and choose “Install Parallels Tools” to install the Parallels features that integrate your Mac and Windows desktops.
8.Click “Virtual Machine” and choose “Configure” from the drop-down list. Click “Options” and “Shared Folders.” Click “Add” and then click “Choose” to add a directory from your Mac desktop to your virtual machine. Place any EXE files in this directory to make them available for installation within Windows.
Things Needed
Parallels Desktop For Mac Torrent
- Windows installation discs
- 15 GB of free hard drive space
- 2 GB of RAM
Tip

- The typical settings for a Parallels virtual machine may not allot as much memory as you would like. Click “Memory” in the configurations overview before you install Windows and choose '512 MB to 1 GB.' Allotting too much memory to your virtual machine will cause OS X to run slowly, and too little memory will cause Windows to run slowly.
